Funky Celtic Groovyness \ See Calendar for Show Dates
The High Drive plays music that is rooted in the traditions of Scotland, Ireland, the Ottawa Valley and Cape Breton. Blending elements of funk, blues, rock, and straight-up groovyness, this genre-bending quartet will get your attention. Nate Douglas (guitar/vocals) has recently finished a North American tour playing with Natalie MacMaster as her guitarist. Born in Barrie, Nate is a funk, jazz and blues guitarist at heart. His unique choices of harmony, and chord progressions help identify The High Drive's sound. James Law (drums) is a recent Humber College music graduate. Hailing from The Sunshine Coast, British Colombia, his musicality and versatility puts him in high demand as a drummer throughout Ontario. Alongside his dirty grooves, he adds a dimension to the band that constantly pushes the boundaries of what fiddle music can sound like. Arthur Ross (fiddle) is an award-winning fiddler, and has studied jazz violin at Humber College. From Appin Ontario, his blistering reels, intricate jigs and tasteful improvisation complete The High Drive's sound. Andre Blais (bass) from Orillia Ontario, influenced The High Drive with new elements of groove and added another layer of rhythm and chordal ideas to the group. Andre teaches in Barrie and performs with groups varying in style from metal to folk. From festivals to pubs to house concerts, The High Drive sets fires in the hearts of music lovers everywhere.
